So what will you be wearing on the beach in 2008?

Black and white are always the usual classics in swimwear but for 2008 black and white prints are huge. Solid blocks of black accented with white on edging and straps will also be seen as well bold block colours such as bright red, blue and yellow. Bold prints on solid background is also very popular.

Both bikinis and one-pieces are popular again this season, however there is less emphasis on the monokini. The 1950’s glamour of last season carries on into 2008 both in shapes and embellishment, with jewellery and semi-precious stones accessorising swimwear.

Kaftans and cover ups are taking their inspiration this season from nature with lots of bold floral prints, patterns and embroidery.

In general try and keep hair, skin, nails and jewellery simple and natural, particularly if your swimwear is a print or has extra details such as beads, jewels, ruffles, bows or ruching. If your swimwear is very simple then you can afford to be a bit more daring with these aspects of your look.

Remember a bikini or swimsuit is the smallest amount of clothing that you will ever be seen in outside of your own home and far from being the last thing on your holiday shopping list, should be a carefully considered purchase!

“There is no such thing as spending too much money on a bikini, my mother once told me. Frankly, it’s most important to look your best when you are wearing the least”
